Trashy Bags helping to save the Planet

trashy bag groupWe are very excited about our new range of recycled trashy bags from Ghana. They are made from recycled water sachets, which contain fresh drinking water and are then discarded on the streets in Ghana. We decided to add these fantastic bags to our ranges as we all here at Tilnar Art have a strong environmental ethos and are passionate about saving our planet, especially from the amount of plastic waste that goes into the sea and food chain.

Tilnar Art seeks to minimise our impact on the environment.   We do not air freight any of our products and transport all of our products by sea to reduce the carbon footprint of our products.

These Trashy Bags are handmade and Fair Trade from Ghana. It is estimated that in Ghana, waste produced from plastic packaging amounts to 270 tonnes per day leading to pollution of the streets, beaches and seas.

akoma with trashy bagThese Trashy Bags help to reduce this pollution as the reclaimed plastic drinking water and ice-cream sachets are not reprocessed in any way apart from cleaning and are then upcycled to make the fantastic Fair Trade Recycled Bags. This has the benefit that very little energy is used in order to add value to material that would otherwise end up polluting our environment.

The recycled trashy backpack will be the must have environmentally friendly fashion accessory and are exclusive to Tilnar Art in UK!

We are hoping that the purchases of these stylish and high quality waterproof recycled bags for life will help save the environment one bag at a time.

All of our ranges are Fair Trade and handmade and our aim is to buy high quality, ethically sourced and environmentally friendly products from disadvantaged producers from across the developing world in order to help people trade out of poverty.

Tilnar Art predominantly buys from primary producers. We make advance payments for materials, to help our suppliers buy raw materials and this ensures that producers do not have to take on debts in order to complete our orders.  We try to order regularly from each producer to maintain continuity of demand and we pay for all orders once the goods are ready in their countries of origin.
